God, My spouse and I. (Part 2)

GOD, MY SPOUSE AND I. (PART 2)

We live in a world of extremes today. There are so many things that started with good foundations but the builders’ intent does not become accomplished or is overly done. Negativity is the order of the modern day. We shall be delving a bit into the relationship a woman should have with God which then flows into her marital life. God should never be out of an institution. If you haven’t read the previous article, I implore you to do so.

Creation is a theme that I would like us to begin with. God is Creator of all things, throughout Scriptures, He is majorly given the appellation: the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth; all things are subject to Him and He is deserving of all worship. You are first of all responsible to God before your husband and any other person. You constantly fetch from His bottomless well of love so you can bathe your husband and this comes from seeking God first.

Furthermore, you were created as a complement to your husband i.e. help meet (see Genesis 2:20). There are so many qualities that make such union to thrive but the most important is submission. Our understanding of that word today is clouded by the evils of this world we live in. Most of us hate that word. I used to as well for it is contradictory to my pride. However, I discover by the day that a submission that flows from love can never be defeated. The perfect example of submission is that of Christ to the will of the Father; to first come to this sin-sickened world and then die for us.  As Christ prayed at Gethsemane beholding ahead of Him the great task, He was tempted to abandon but He submitted to the will of the Father accepting the cup of God’s wrath. (Matthew 26:36-46, Mark 15:32-42, Luke22:47-53).

                 Ephesians 5:22-24 says:

Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands as unto the LORD; for the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is head of the church and He is the savior of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ so let wives be to their husbands.

On a final note, let us take a look at the relationship between Christ and the Father as spoken about in the Scriptures. Let’s pick just two instances from the statements of Christ. As He prayed in John 17 it says:

That they all may be one as, as thou, Father art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me

Another statement is where He mentions ‘’ I and my Father are one.’’ There is that very strong bond between them that no one can separate; there is the oneness of mind and purpose. That is what your relationship with your husband should be for you have become one flesh.

Jesus never did anything independent of the Father for He was always leaning on the Father. Submission is not weakness but strength. You are highly valued and play a very important role in your marriage. When Adam saw you after you were formed, he exclaimed, “the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.’’ One major thing to note after all that has been mentioned here is that the devil is out to destroy every marriage for he knows that it is from the family the world is formed so I exhort you to do everything contrary to what he encourages or tempts you to do. How is that to be done? It is by following strictly the principles of the Bible and asking God to make you willing to be willing to do whatever it takes to follow the right path.

Well, that’s it there! I want to believe that the main point is clear, which is submission and that before your husband comes God. Inspiration makes us to understand that our homes should be little heavens   on the Earth. And … Jesus is coming.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24
